Chamber: PM acting responsibly

THE Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce yesterday described Prime Minister Patrick Manning’s intention to seek advice from local and foreign independent Senior Counsels as “responsible.” In a release, the Chamber said it trusts “it will concur with his approach to this delicate task in a thorough, carefully considered fashion.”

The Chamber said it expected the provisions of the Constitution to be strictly adhered to. The Chamber noted that everything which impacted on the independence of the Chief Justice and the Judiciary, as well as on the separation of powers from those of the Executive, was extremely serious and of dire consequence.
