Fire hits complex in Vistabella

AN apartment building in Vistabella, in close proximity to Prime Minister Patrick Manning’s duplex in Sumadh Gardens, was partially destroyed by fire Wednesday night. The roof of the building, which consists of several apartments and housed 30 residents, was completely destroyed. According to a police report, residents heard the crackling sound of fire coming from the direction of the apartment building around 9 pm. Tenders from the Mon Repos and San Fernando fire stations responded and firemen put out the blaze. No one was injured, but damage to the roof was extensive.

Police reports stated that the fire caused partial structural damage to the 70 ft by 60 ft concrete building. The cause of the blaze is yet to be determined. PC Hall of the Marabella Police Station is investigating.
