Husband shot while defending wife

A Tacarigua man who ran to rescue  his wife while their car was being car-jacked outside their home is now in a satisfactory condition at the Port-of- Spain General Hospital after being shot in the neck by the car thieves. According to reports, around 8 pm Wednesday, Terrence Bart, 57, an auditor at the Auditor General’s office,  was alerted by the sound of his wife’s car alarm outside the gate to their Trincity home.

He ran out and spotted two men. One was accosting his wife Lenore Bart, 55,  and another was already sitting behind the steering wheel of his wife’s Nissan Almera car. Bart attempted to assist his wife and was shot in his neck. The bullet exited his back. The gunman then drove off in the  vehicle.
Investigations revealed that Bart’s wife, a bank clerk, had just arrived at her gate where her car was blocked by another white Almera motorcar. As she stopped, a man pointed a gun at her and ordered the scared woman out of the car. While exiting the car, the alarm was tripped and her husband responded. The car was recovered later in the Tunapuna area. Police sources confirmed an arrest is imminent. PC Weekes is continuing investigations.
