PAUL SLAMS NATION’S LEADERS
“Many of the problems that have befallen our nation over the years have been due to the absence of integrity,” said President of the Inter-Religious Organisation, Rev Cyril Paul as he delivered a message at the Chest and Heart Association Interfaith thanksgiving service at All Saints Anglican Church yesterday.
Speaking about the characteristics of “Christ-inspired greatness,” Paul named humility, service and integrity of character. However, he said integrity was “conspicuous by its absence” in TT. He said the problems affecting the country were due to the absence of integrity in the people trusted “and who let us down badly.”
Paul warned that a country whose leaders and citizens are lacking integrity of character was marching to demise. “A service organisation whose leaders and members are not persons of integrity is heading for serious trouble.” While people can achieve greatness in many areas, Paul said no one is infallible. “Infallibility is beyond us but integrity is not. This is our possibility and our glory. It is our true wealth.”
