TWO IN COURT TODAY
THE TWO men charged for the murder of Mala Mohammed, wife of Princes Town businessman Khalid Mohammed, are expected to be taken to court today. The two suspects are a 28-year-old member of the Jamaat al Muslimeen, and a 23-year-old Princes Town man. They were arrested outside the Tunapuna Magistrates’ Court on Thursday by Homicide detectives who made a break-through on the nine-month-old case. By 1am Saturday they were charged with murder by Inspector Fitzgerald George.
Mala, 45, was the wife of businessman Khalid Mohammed, who is well-known as “Uncle Khalid” after his businessplace Uncle Khalid’s Supermarket in Princes Town. Mala was gunned down on May 10, 2004, as she drove into the garage of the home which she shared with her husband at Edward Street, Princes Town. She was shot in her head and shoulder after being ambushed as she exited her car. Her husband was in Miami where his son resides at the time of her killing.
