Hunt for Mala’s killers goes abroad

CONTINUED investigations into the murder of Mala Mohammed have led homicide detectives to the Customs and Immigration Department for information on the current visit abroad of two more suspects. No warrants have been issued for the suspects, but a senior police officer told Newsday yesterday that they want to interview the two new suspects. Two men of Arouca, who worked as security guards for relatives of Mala — Sheldon Reid, 33, and Dwayne Swan, 23, — were charged last Friday  and appeared before a magistrate in Princes Town on Monday for her murder.

Mala was the wife of supermarket businessman Khalid Mohammed, known as “Uncle Khalid.” She was shot dead on April 11 in the garage at her home on Edward Street, Princes Town. The senior officer said, “No additional warrant has been issued, but we are seeking two persons to give statements. We have contacted Customs and Excise. We want to know when they left the country, their current location and when they’re due to return.” Reid and Swan will re-appear in court on Thursday March 3.
