Suspect held in Imam’s kidnap

MEMBERS of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad yesterday detained a 35-year-old man in connection with Tuesday’s abduction of Biche businessman and Imam, Azzizool Baksh. The suspect was arrested early yesterday morning and, up to mid-evening, he was being questioned by detectives at Biche Police station.

Police said Baksh’s relatives had not been contacted by the kidnappers, who abducted Baksh around 6 am. Four masked gunmen intercepted Baksh, who was driving his truck near the Biche forest. He was bundled into a car which sped off. Shortly after the abduction police had questioned two men, who were then released. Officers of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad and Sangre Grande police are continuing investigations.
