Mausica man drowns at Caura
A 25-year-old Mau-sica man died yesterday after he found himself in difficulties at the Caura River. Angry friends and relatives of Amar Margrea are calling for an investigation over the failure of authorities at the Caura Chest Hospital to give him treatment. Officers attached to the Tunapuna Police Station also expressed similar sentiments.
According to reports, Margrea, of Calsie Street, Mausica Road, D’Abadie, was liming with friends celebrating a birthday, when he got into difficulties at Pool 1, Caura River around 3.25 pm and had to be pulled out of the water after he sunk to the bottom. He was rushed to the nearby Caura Chest Hospital in the tray of a pick-up but there were no doctors in attendance. When his friends attempted to carry Margrea to the EWMSC, they were prevented from leaving the Caura hospital by a security guard who told them to leave the body. Eventually Margrea, who remained on the tray for over one hour succumbed.
