Tobago travellers warned to show up early
Port Authority Public Relations Officer, Betty Ann Gibbons, is advising passengers to arrive two hours before boarding ferries, and stick to scheduled sailing times during the busy Easter weekend. “Some people come here a few minutes before, and we won’t be able to accommodate them. The stop period for boarding is a half an hour before,” she told Newsday. She added that many passengers arrived for boarding at all kinds of times instead of the right sailing time.
“We won’t be able to accommodate passengers this weekend because it is our peak schedule.” Gibbons said she is hoping for efficient, smooth operations and that passengers will work with Port Authority workers. Tickets will not be sold during sailing times, she said. The MV Sonia and The Cat are sold out, and the MV Beauport and the MF Panorama are on schedule to pick up the slack. The Panorama will be sailing at 12 pm Holy Thursday and Saturday, and at 2 pm on Friday. There will also be tarpaulin and chairs available outside the Tobago passenger building to accommodate the expected passengers.
