Three charged with teen kidnapping

Two men and a 17-year old woman will appear before a Sangre Grande Magistrate today charged with kidnapping and falsely imprisoning a 17-year-old Sangre Grande teenager. The victim, Terrance Darbeau, a gardener, reported to the Sangre Grande police that around 2.30 pm on Easter Monday, he was liming at Vega De Oropouche when a Lancer with four occupants pulled up and forced him into the vehicle.

He was questioned about some missing marijuana and attempts were made to force him into the trunk of the car. He retaliated and was placed in the back seat of the car and driven to the Catholic church in the area. Darbeau claimed that he was taken behind the church where he was beaten and again questioned about the missing marijuana. He managed to escape and made a report to the Sangre Grande police.

A party of officers led by Cpl Beverly Paul and including PCs Anil Baboolal, Francis Garris and Randolph Casillo went to a trace at Vega De Oropouche and arrested a 17-year old woman, and a 30-year old Matura man. A 27-year old man later gave himself up to the police. They were charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment and assault by PC Baboolal.
