BOOK YOUR FERRY EARLY

There is still ferry space for those passengers who would like to make it back to Trinidad from Tobago this weekend. Vilma Louis Cockburn, customer service manager of the Port Authority, told Newsday yesterday that there will be a double sailing for the Cat and the Sonia on Friday and Sunday this weekend. However, she said passengers should book their tickets early and not miss their sailing time.

“A lot of people come late and expect to get the other ferry, and sometimes we can accommodate them and sometimes not,” she told Newsday. She added that sometimes there was space available and passengers could get on board if someone missed their sailing time. She also noted that in the interest of safety, a limited number of passengers are allowed on the ferries. “The vessels are based on capacity, and for this weekend a number of persons will want to come back after returning from the holidays. We can’t accept everyone,” she said.
