Store owner’s son snatched

IMRAN Hosein, the son of a Curepe stationery store owner, became this country’s 18th kidnap victim for 2005 on Thursday night. According to reports, Hosein pulled up to his 16-year-old girlfriend’s Second Street, West Montague Avenue house around 10.20 pm, and was escorting her through a gate when a car with two men pulled up. One of the men, who was armed with a gun, grabbed the businessman’s son, pushed him into a vehicle, and drove away. No ransom has yet been demanded for his release.

When Newsday visited the family’s Third Street, De La Marre Avenue home in Trincity, relatives of the kidnapped man refused to comment. The traumatised girlfriend, who witnessed the kidnapping, remained locked in the house. Imran and his father Richard Hosein, owner of “Stationery Warehouse” stores in Curepe and Trincity, were arrested on October 1, 2004, for breach of the Copyright Act when several documents which had been reproduced without authority were found in the store. The matter, which was called at the Tunapuna Magistrates’ Court, will be re-called in May.
