Investigations into fire continue
FIRE officers are still trying to determine the cause of Saturday’s million dollar fire which destroyed the People’s Mall and several business places on Henry and Frederick Streets. “The investigation is tedious and is at a very tender stage. We have had the forensic people visit and revisit the area, collect samples of batteries from where it is believed the fire started” Fire Station Officer at the public relations, welfare and research department, John Springle, told Newsday. “These samples have since been sent for testing. We have also interviewed and re-interviewed several tenants from the area where we believe the fire started. “Until all that is finished and the tests completed, we cannot make a premature statement. At this point it is inconclusive,” he said.
