Still no bail for man with 4 names

A COCORITE man, dubbed the man with four names, will have to wait a while longer to find out if he will be granted bail for a million-dollar drug possession charge. Dereck Perpignac of Bayside Towers, Cocorite, Fiday made an application for bail before Justice Anthony Carmona at the Port-of-Spain Assizes, but was told by the judge that he (Carmona) would have to consult with another judge before he made a decision.  The judge with whom Carmona intends to consult had denied bail to the accused on three separate occasions relative to the same offence.

The 41-year-old man is jointly charged with 35-year-old Lawrence Blake with possession of 4.2 kilos of cocaine on the Western Main Road in Cocorite on October 20, 2004. The illegal narcotic has an estimated street value of $1.6 million. Perpignac is alleged to have three Trinidad and Tobago ID cards and three other names — Anthony Mauge, Anthony Christopher Hills and Anthony Christopher Mauge. He was represented by attorney Rangee Dolsingh SC, while attorney Nadia James appeared for the State.
