Murder toll now 105

A 37-year-old ex-convict was shot dead while walking towards his Construction Avenue, Longdenville home around 4.20 am yesterday. Ricardo Williams, alias Horsekick, was shot once in the left side of the neck. When his body was found, a small amount of marijuana was found in his left hand. According to police reports, around 4.20 am  gunshots were heard at Enterprise Street. Officers of the Chaguanas CID were alerted and when they arrived at the scene, they saw a man of African descent, lying in a pool of blood.


He was clad in a black pants and a coloured shirt. Police officers led by Snr Supt Barnett Mayers and including Cpls Balchan Salick and Danny Ramlogan as well as detectives Thomas and Sheppard went to the scene along with a district medical officer. The area was cordoned off by a team of police and soldiers. Residents of the area identified the dead man only as “Horsekick.” Police investigators were able to trace the identity of the man through his criminal records.


His fingerprints were traced and it was discovered that he spent ten years in prison after he was convicted for a robbery. He was recently released from prison and joined a Muslim organisation. Police described the killing as gang-related. When Newsday visited the scene of the shooting death, the dead man was described as a peaceful person. Residents of Enterprise claimed that he lived alone at Construction Drive, Longdenville and was trying to rehabilitate his life. A post-mortem will be carried out today. Cpl Salick is investigating.
