St James mom taken for joyride, then raped

A 35-year-old Carenage man will appear before a Port-of-Spain magistrate today charged with the rape of a St James mother of five. According to reports, the St James woman asked her neighbour to take her to the St James Infirmary at around 5 pm. On reaching the infirmary, the woman’s neighbour suggested they return later, as he wanted to run a “PH” taxi to Carenage. The woman, 32, agreed and was taken to Point Cumana in Carenage where the neighbour bought a pack of cigarettes, a bottle of rum, a box of chicken and chips, and some marijuana.

They then drove along the Western Main Road, during which time the drugs and alcohol were consumed. On reaching Deane’s Bay Chaguaramas, the driver got out of the car and took off his clothes. He then ordered the woman to perform oral sex on him. The man then went in to the water and took a swim. The woman reportedly refused, saying it was too cold. The man soon returned to the car and ordered the woman to sit on him. They then drove off to St James, where she was again ordered to perform oral sex. On reaching St James, the woman made a report at the St James Police Station, which transferred the matter to the Carenage Police Station.
