Kidnappers demand $.5M for Neisha
KIDNAPPERS of nine-year-old Neisha Seeteram have demanded $500,000 from relatives in Tabaquite for the child’s safe return. Neisha’s father Ishwarlal Seeteram told Newsday yesterday that the ransom demand was made via a telephone call the kidnappers made at 11 pm Thursday night to the home of her uncle Winston Seeteram in Tabaquite, where she had been staying. Seeteram said a relative who received the telephone call was given an opportunity to speak to Neisha. “They did not ask for any money at first. They just let her speak for a little while before they hung up,” Seeteram said.
The girl had been staying with her uncle and his wife Michelle to facilitate her attendance at the Tabaquite Presbyterian School. The girl originally lived with her father and wife Marjorie Marchan at Brasso Venado. Neisha was sitting at a table in the house doing home work when three men dressed as soldiers snatched her around 6.15 pm on Wednesday. Members of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad have conducted searches of certain parts of Tabaquite for the girl. A source at the Anti-Kidnapping Squad confirmed that a ransom demand had been received by the girl’s family.
