Warrants issued for three suspects


A 28-year-old Venezuelan man escaped his abductors early yesterday and made his way to the Arouca Police Station where he lodged a report. Quick response by the police led them to a house at Bon Air Gardens where two men were arrested.


Police are searching for three other suspects in connection with the kidnapping. Reports revealed that around 4 pm on Friday, Michael Arvello, 28, of Margarita, was at the Trincity Mall carpark when he was bundled into a car by three men.


He was taken to a house at Bon Air Gardens where he was tied up and blindfolded.


Arvello managed to escape from the house early yesterday and made his way to the Arouca Police Station.


He told police officers that he was kidnapped since Friday and escaped.


He then took the police back to the house where he was kept. A 30-year old man who was asleep at the house, and another man have been arrested.


They were handed over to officers of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad.


Police sources told Newsday that warrants have been secured for the arrest of three other suspects in connection with the kidnapping.


Yesterday, police officers were in the process of laying a charge of false imprisonment against the 30-year old man.


AKS sources told Newsday that on Friday they received a report of a man being bundled into a car at Trincity, but they were unable to do anything because of a lack of information.
