Domestic violence killings for probe

INQUESTS have been ordered into two recent killings in Couva and La Brea, in which domestic disputes at the victims’ respective homes ended in death.

Brian Moore, 49, a construction worker of Alexander Street, Couva, was stabbed by a female relative after he attacked her with a knife about 3.30 am at his home on May 5, 2005.

The relative was hospitalised for stab wounds about the body. Police investigators submitted a file to Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions (South) Roger Gaspard.

Gaspard has ordered that an inquest be conducted into Moore’s killing to determine if there is evidence for the police to investigate a homicide.

Marilyn Alexander St Clair, 43, was stabbed to death on May 7, 2005, by a male relative at her Sobo Village home in La Brea. They were reportedly having a heated argument during which the relative was stabbed.

The relative removed the knife from his wound and stabbed St Clair. St Clair ran, but collapsed near the Sobo Recreation Ground. The relative was hospitalised.

Gaspard has also ordered an inquest to be conducted into St Clair’s killing.
