Anti-Corruption Squad meets with Panday

Opposition Leader Basdeo Panday was yesterday interviewed for half an hour at his office on Charles Street, Port-of-Spain, by head of the Anti-Corruption Squad Snr Supt Maurice Piggott and Insp John Telesford.

The meeting started at 12.30 pm and ended just after 1 pm.

Newsday learnt that Panday was very cooperative with the two officers.

According to sources, the interview stemmed from an ongoing investigation by the Anti-Corruption Squad into a London Bank account.

Contacted yesterday, Panday confirmed the meeting with the two officers, but added that he was unwilling to divulge any information at this time until he finds out who leaked his meeting with the two officers.

"It is a conspiracy between the police and the Government to create a diversion, to save the PNM from the morass of corruption into which it has degenerated."
