Venezuelan and Trini held in drug bust denied bail

TWO men, a Vene-zuelan and a Trinida-dian, were yesterday denied bail when they appeared before a Clerk of the Peace on charges of trafficking an estimated $1 million worth of compressed marijuana. Nixon Walters and Miguel Lopez were taken to the Port-of-Spain Magistrates’ Court yesterday afternoon, where the charges were read to them by Clerk of the Peace Seunarine.

Walters, 34, of Las Cuevas and 19-year-old Lopez were arrested on Wednesday night at Tyrico Bay, Maracas, where they were alleged to have been caught off-loading the illegal narcotic, from a boat. The marijuana weighed 81 kilos. The charges were laid by PC Dailan Morris of the Maracas Bay Police Station. The two were re-manded in custody and will appear before Senior Magistrate Lianne Lee Kim at the city’s Fourth Court on Tuesday.
