Rachel Price under attack

THE upstairs apartment of comedienne Rachel Price was fired upon yesterday morning by gunmen.

According to reports, the drama started about 5 am with an altercation between Price’s friend and a group of men at a party around the Queen’s Park Savannah. The drama ended at Price’s home at the corner of Rajnath Street and La Puerta Avenue, Diego Martin.

According to Price, she and her fiance were heading home from the party when they received a call from a friend that he was being ambushed by men he knew.

"We turned around, went back to the party, assisted our friend who was bleeding, beaten and bruised, we placed him into another car and went on our way," Price said.

"About half an hour after our friend arrived at my home.

"We went to the gallery where I was cleaning him up when the gunmen fired the shots," she added.

The well-known comic who had to be sedated during the earlier half of the day, refused to say more out of fear for her life and that of her daughter.

She, however, indicated that the fight which was over a woman was long in coming, but again refused to divulge more.

She did, however, thank God for saving the lives of herself and that of her daughter, while chiding the "boys" who did the shooting and whom she claimed have no value for life.

In a very serious tone she added that a couple of months ago she would have laughed at such a situation, but now that it had come close to home, she was looking at it differently.

Price was not at home when Newsday visited her but there were signs of the five bullet holes at the front of the building.

Meanwhile, residents at the normally-tranquil area expressed concern about the shooting.

"While we are aware of the shootings and the crime in the country, this area was virtually untouched.

Now it has come home," residents expressed.

"What or who is next? People were afraid before but they are now scared to even go to their windows and imagine no one was injured," one resident said.

One resident heard five shots but did venture out to see until the police arrived.

Others simply refused to talk because of fears of reprisals.

Visiting the scene were Senior Supt Roderick Roach, Asp Julius, Sgt Ramsoobhag and Cpls Jupiter and Prescott who are continuing inquiries.
