NLCB needs social conscience — Enill
Junior Finance Minister Conrad Enill said Government was mindful of the tremendous contributions made by NLCB to the nation’s Consolidated Fund over the years. "At January 2001, the gross revenue of the NLCB stood at just over $741 million. At the end of the last financial year, revenue stood at $971 million, an increase of $230 million plus over three years," However Enill reminded his audience that notwithstanding the revenues the NLCB brings to the nation, it must always strive to be an organisation with "a social conscience." Noting that the winnings of lotteries in other nations are designated for specific purposes and with TT’s energy sector now "firing on all cylinders," Lee Sing proposed to Enill that Government consider directing the profits from the NLCB’s games to the new and expanding University of TT.
