Diabetes Association launches new product for diabetics

Blood glucose monitoring will now be made available and affordable to the public as Pharmaco Industries Limited and the Diabetes Association of Trinidad and Tobago (DATT) join forces in the fight against diabetes.

This partnership was officially unveiled yesterday, at DATT’s annual general meeting held at Waterloo High School.

DATT has selected Pharmaco’s "easi-check" as the primary blood glucose monitoring system since it utilises the most advanced bio-metric technology on the international market today. It also enables users to quickly and painlessly access information on their blood glucose status.

"Easi-check" is the first ever home diagnostic machine, designed and owned by a Caribbean-based company, to receive US FDA approval. It was designed to significantly improve diabetes management for those living with diabetes at a lower cost.

According to DATT, the availability and affordability of "easi-check" blood glucose monitors are of critical importance to those living with diabetes since it permits the individual to review blood glucose levels regularly and modify their meal plan and exercise programmes.

Pharmaco, a leading provider of quality health care and solutions for the medical and pharmaceutical industries, also has plans of launching a full line of "easi-check" home diagnostics range of products later this year. This will complement the blood glucose system now available at pharmacies nationwide. "Easi-check" can also be obtained at DATT’s head office and from its 24 branches throughout Trinidad and Tobago.

DATT was founded in 1987 and conducts monthly meetings with the aim of providing educational services and outreach programmes to many persons living with diabetes.
