Two more killed

THE murder toll in Laventille rose by two yesterday in the continuing saga of the on-going gang war.

Dead are Brent Davis, 18, alias "Shortbone" and ‘PH’ driver Kisselton John, 27, alias "Tango."

According to reports, around 1 pm yesterday, Davis was walking along Leau Place, Laventille Road, Laventille when several shots rang out.

Residents rushed to the scene and found Davis dead lying in a pool of blood with bullet wounds to several parts of his body.

Another man who was with him grabbed a gun from his waist and ran.

Davis the major suspect in the recent gangland murder of Lloyd Romero, 33, of Duncan Street, Port-of-Spain who was shot dead on July 25 as he exited the George Street, Port-of-Spain Health Centre had been in hiding over the last two weeks and only recently returned to the area.

He also has several pending matters for shooting and firearm related charges.

A relative yesterday described him as "a good boy who lived how he could.

"His father is dead — murdered, his elder brother is dead — murdered, his younger brother is serving time in prison and his mother is elsewhere. He lived the life and paid for it."

On December 31, 2003 his father Brian Davis was gunned down on Leau Place Road, a short distance from where Brent was killed.

On February 15, this year his older brother Brian Davis aka Brian Hollingsworth alias ‘Yellows’ was gunned down at Harpe Place Observatory Street, Port-of-Spain.

In an unrelated matter Kisselton John of St Barbs, Laventille was plying his car for hire along Laventille Road when on reaching Pump Trace he stopped his car, came out and called out to a friend in a house.

Residents heard several gunshots and when they looked out they saw John lying dead in a pool of blood with a bullet wound to his head.

Visiting the scene were ASP Gonzales, Insp Martinez and Singh, Sgt Boyce and Stewart, Cpls Barrington, Samaroo, Ajodha and others. Cpl Samaroo is investigating the murder of Davis, while Barrington is investigating the murder of John.

Two men are also warded at the Port-of-Spain General hospital with bullet wounds in what police believe is a reprisal for the recent murder of 1990 youngest insurrectionist Garvin Gillard who was shot dead on Wednesday night.
