Two women shot dead in bed

POLICE suspect strained relationships between two female friends and their relatives were responsible for their double murder on Friday night at Diamond Vale, Diego Martin.

Dead are Donna George, 48, a pre-school principal and Sherma Roberts, 33, an Unemployment Relief Programme employee. The women lived at 13 and 16 Carnelian Gardens respectively.

According to reports, around 9.30 pm residents saw a man entering Sherma’s home, through the gallery and then heard two shots as the man ran off.

On investigating both women were found dead lying in bed. George, fully dressed and Roberts dressed in her underwear and a towel wrapped around her died instantly.

When contacted Pamela Glasgow, Sherma’s sister spoke about a 13-year stormy relationship between her sister and a relative which resulted in several reports of domestic violence being reported to the West End Police Station, including threats to kill or have someone paid to do the job. The relative was also issued a restraining order which was broken three weeks ago. The matter is to be heard in court on Tuesday.

Glasgow related: "We warned her several times about her relationship and her recent agreement to break the restraining order.

Although she said that they were trying again, from what we saw, we did not accept that.

Now she is dead, murdered and we believe this man killed my sister.

"Donna, a mother of four, her bosom buddie and friend of many years was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. She too was going through similar problems which drew both of them together.

"Because of the problems they encountered both women were planning to move out and rent a new house earlier this month, however problems came up and that did not materialise.

This man knew her weakness and used that to worm his way back into her life." Glasgow stated.

According to investigations around 7.45 pm, Sherma, a mother of one contacted her sister to pick up her daughter at the family Abbe Poujade Road, Carenage home.

The male relative suggested that Sherma defer picking up the child on Friday and suggested yesterday. Sherma refused and Donna came over to the house.

Glasgow denied her sister was "wild" and claimed Sherma was beaten several times by her relative because she caught him being unfaithful.

When Sunday Newsday visited the Diamond Vale homes of the two women no one was present, but residents spoke of a busy schedule for both women which involved visits from several male friends.

Residents believe this could have been a catalyst for the killing.

Police believe that both women were murdered by a hired killer.

Two men ages 43 and 42 are assisting police with their investigations.

Visiting the scene were Snr Supt Roach, Insp Lezama, Sgt Martin, Cpl’s Rivas and Marcelle, who is continuing inquiries.
