Trouble in Moruga


A ‘‘NO SHOW’’ of Jamaican dancehall artiste, Louie Culture at a fete in Moruga on Saturday night caused a fracas among disgruntled patrons. A police car attached to the Princes Town Police Station was damaged during the mayhem and 12 persons were arrested as a result.


According to a police report, the fete was promoted , weeks prior to the date of the show, advertising Jamaican dancehall artiste, Louie Culture as the fete’s main feature. The report stated that on the night of the concert which began at about 9 pm at Lambs Palace, patrons were re-assured of Culture’s appearance/performance.


However, the police report stated that at about 4 am on Sundaya fete promoter went on stage and a nnounced that Culture, because of reasons beyond hiscontrol, was unable to make it to the fete. The report stated that after the announcement was made disgruntled patrons began pelting glass bottles and stones on the stage while hurling obscentites at the promoter.


A contingent of police officers, armed with batons, from both the Moruga and Princes Town police stations, the report said, attempted to disperse the angry crow.


During the fracas, a police car, attached to the Princes Town police station, was damaged.


Police officers arrested 12 persons, between the ages 18-24 as a result of the incident.
