A note to all voters
THE EDITOR: The tragic events of the terrorist attack in the city of London, have once more brought to the fore the maturity of the British people and the British parliament. At the meeting of parliament, the opposition joined hands with the government in a united effort, reflective of the British people, vowing together to stamp out the scourge of terrorism which now stalks the land. Consider now the events of 1990 in Trinidad and Tobago . . . when terrorists stormed the parliament and caused the death of 23 lives, with consequent massive disruption and destruction in our lives. And what did the Opposition Leaders do? They displayed their immaturity in refusing to condemn this act of terrorism. One Leader . . . "Wake me up when it’s all over" the other Leader "it’s a family squabble." Both these leaders became Prime Ministers of this land of ours. As a testimony to their immaturity even the perpetrator of this dastardly act walks the road a free man, with millions in his pocket, while the country cowers before him. It is said that the people get the government they deserves. No wonder, in spite of its massive oil wealth, Trinidad and Tobago is on a downward, moral, spiritual and economic decline.
