Where is Rita’s pension cheque?

RITA Beddoe of 146 Immortelle Crescent, Sangre Grande, has not received her old-age pension cheque for the month of July despite complaining to officials of the Social Welfare Division on several occasions.

On one of the times she called, she was told that the cheque had already been sent out to TTPost.

She then visited TTPost to enquire about the cheque and was told there was no record of it ever being sent to them.

Beddoe told the People’s Hotline she is dependent on the money since it is her only means of survival.

Contacted yesterday, a senior officer of the Social Welfare Division stated that an investigation would be launched to ascertain if Beddoes’ July cheque had been cashed.

The official explained that in the event TTPost sent a cheque to a wrong address, it will take up to three months for the cheque to be returned to them (the Welfare Division) and for them to issue it to the correct person.

The official advised Beddoe to make another complaint to the Social Welfare’s Duke Street office for investigations to be initiated.
