Teen held with ganja in school bag
An 18-year-old youth of Little Caura Road, Guaico Tamana, was held on Wednesday with two pounds of compressed marijuana in a school bag. Elvis Roberts Castillo appeared before Magistrate Judy Gordon in the Second Court in Sangre Grande on Thursday charged with possession of marijuana by detective Ramharack Gadar. He was remanded in custody to reappear on August 19 for sentencing. The court was told that Cpl Dillion, Rampersad and Gadar were on foot patrol on the Eastern Main Road, Sangre Grande, at 5 pm on Wednesday, when they saw the accused acting suspiciously. He was approached by the police officers and his blue school bag searched. They found two pounds of compressed marijuana in the bag. Castillo was arrested, the marijuana seized, and he was taken to the Sangre Grande Police Station where he was cautioned by Detective Gadar and charged with the offence.
