New York businessmen coming to TT
A DELEGATION of New York-based businessmen with Trinidad and Tobago roots will be visiting this country on a three-day trade mission in September, with a view to establishing business relations and exploring joint venture opportunities with local firms. The trade mission is expected to comprise executives from the recently launched Trinidad and Tobago Business Association (TATBA) in New York: Jude Alibey, President; Gail Yvette Davis, Vice President; and Deo Gosine, Co-Chairman/Membership and Marketing. During their visit, the TATBA executives hope to engage in exploratory talks with the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Evolving Technologies Limited (E-Teck), and the Trinidad and Tobago Industrial Development Company (TIDCO), as well as several local private sector organisations, including the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association (TTMA) and the various chambers of commerce. Trade and Industry Minister Ken Valley, attended the TATBA launch at this country’s consulate in Manhattan. He said the TATBA will play a major role in creating significant linkages and strengthening networks between home-based business interests and diaspora businesses in the United States. Valley observed that the TATBA trade mission in September is a clear indication that the association has made Trinidad and Tobago a priority, and is truly interested in forming meaningful partnerships with their local counterparts. Minister Valley says the association can be an important institution for promoting trade and investment opportunities in Trinidad and Tobago, particularly in the US investment market, and this will also form part of the discussions during the September Trade Mission. TATBA is an umbrella organisation seeking to unify all Trinidad and Tobago owned and operated businesses in New York. It comprises business people and professionals who have migrated to the United States, and who are involved in business activities. TATBA’s primary mandate is to help businesses in the diaspora to strengthen their relationship with the home country. It also serves as a resource base for diaspora businessmen, disseminating strategic information on business opportunities available here in Trinidad and Tobago.
