Body fished out in Glencoe
The unidentified body of a man was fished out of waters in the vicinity of the Yacht Club, Glencoe, around 1 pm yesterday. The body was discovered by a yachtie, who alerted security at the Yacht Club. Officers of the Four Roads Police Station, along with Coast Guard officers, went to the scene. Coast Guard officers had to use a rope to take the man’s body from the water. It was viewed by a District Medical Officer and ordered removed to the Forensic Science Centre. The body, clad in a black short pants and jersey, may have been in the water for a few days but due to the condition of the corpse it was unclear whether foul play was suspected. Yesterday, scores of people including yachties gathered at the seafront at Glencoe to try and catch a glimpse of the man. The body remained at the seafront for several hours yesterday as police officers tried desperately to secure a District Medical Officer to order the removal of the body. Investigations are continuing.
