Another URP worker shot dead
Nigel Kinsale, a 27-year-old URP worker, was shot dead while playing a card game at Pashley Street, Laventille, on Wednesday night. Police reports revealed that Kinsale, a father of five, was playing a game of cards at 9 pm on Wednesday, when a group of men alighted from a car and began shooting at him. He was struck several times about the body and ran a short distance away where he collapsed in a drain. His body was viewed by a district medical officer and ordered removed to the Forensic Science Centre. Yesterday, his sister Leslie Ann insisted that her brother was not involved in gang activity. She said although her brother was no saint, he was trying to turn his life around and take care of his family. "Who will mind his five children now?" asked the grieving woman. She said her brother started working with the URP and was becoming very family-oriented. She said she had no idea why he was killed in such a brutal manner. Police investigators told Newsday yesterday that Kinsale was known to the police, as he had been convicted for robberies and had served time in prison. However, police admitted that Kinsale was no longer suspected of being involved in crime. Based on information received, police said Kinsale may not have been the gunmen’s target. They added that relatives of Kinsale who are suspects in recent shootings and murders were the probable targets, but Kinsale was in the wrong place at the wrong time. His murder is the 245th for the year. Officers of the Besson Street Police Station are investigating.
