A Hillview College student has reportedly placed first in Mathematics, first in Further Mathematics, and fourth in Physics out of the 2.3 million students who wrote this year’s Cambridge Advanced Level General Certificate Examinations (GCE A’ Levels).

Two other students from the school placed fifth and sixth in Mathematics and Further Mathematics respectively. The top ten ranking students of the world list is compiled by Cambridge. Seven local students placed first. The list was released by Cambridge last week to the Ministry of Education. However, the ministry is refusing to make the list public until next Wednesday’s awards function at the Hilton Trinidad.

Newsday sources have said that 44 Trinidadian students gained 47 placings out of a possible 240 places. This is the fourth consecutive year that there is a high percentage of local students on the top ten list.
