3 in court for foreman’s murder
Three men appeared before a Port-of-Spain magistrate yesterday charged with the murder of Ignatius Henry Antoine, whose decomposed body was found buried near his Laventille home a few weeks ago. Appearing before Magistrate Halcian Yorke Young in the Port-of-Spain Third Court were David Noel, John Phillip and Cody Nickie, all of Pump Trace, Picton Road, Laventille. The three men were arrested by Cpl Rajdeo Samaroo of the Besson Street Police Station following extensive investigations into the murder of the 65-year-old Grenadian who worked as a foreman on the Caricom Jetty in Port-of-Spain.
The charge read to the three men stated that between the period August 31 and September 6, they murdered Antoine at Picton Road, Laventille. Reports on the incident stated that the elderly man’s body was found after residents in the area were alerted to a foul stench near his home. The three men were not called on to plead and the matter was adjourned to September 19. All three accused will reappear on that day before Chief Magistrate Sherman Mc Nicolls.
