No sign of kidnapped cricketer

Yesterday marked the eight day since 19-year-old cricketer Justin Guillen was snatched, and kidnappers continue to demand a US$2 million ransom for his release. Anti-Kidnapping Squad (AKS) sources said yesterday that the ransom for Guillen is the highest ever demanded. The kidnappers continue to demand the US$2 million despite negotiations with members of the Guillen family. Yesterday, the situation remained the same with no word from the kidnappers about Guillen’s release. His relatives are now beginning to worry even more about his safety, and friends and relatives of the kidnapped teen continue to pray for his safe release.

AKS officers told Newsday that they do not have a clear lead in the kidnapping, but they are convinced that Guillen is still alive. Guillen was snatched while standing outside a house in Glencoe last week. The son of businessman Jeffrey Guillen and Guardian editor Judy Raymond was on his way to meet relatives when he was bundled into a vehicle. His relatives were contacted hours later, and the ransom demanded.
