Teen girls held with guns, ID cards, weed
POLICE believe they have made a breakthrough in solving several robberies in South and Central Trinidad with yesterday’s arrest of a 24-year-old man and two teenaged girls at a house in Orange Valley, Carapichaima. Police seized two guns, seven rounds of assorted ammunition and a quantity of marijuana. A police report stated that a party of policemen raided the house, and seized a number of stolen cellphones, identification cards, bank cards, driver’s permits and a saw. The raid came after weeks of surveillance by detectives of Southern Division Police Headquarters. According to a police report, a team of detectives led by Sgt Derek Matthews Noel, including officers from the Operations Unit of the CID, San Fernando, Guard and Emergency Branch and Crime Supression Unit, swooped down on the house at 11 am. The lawmen executed a search warrant and seized a .38 revolver, .22 pistol, seven rounds of assorted ammunition, nine Nokia and Motorola cellular phones, bank cards, identification cards, drivers permits, Magna cards and wallets. Most of the items were partially burnt and police believe that the items were burnt in an attempt to destroy the evidence. Investigators were up to yesterday tracing the guns and cellular phones in a bid to determine their origin. The teenage girls, police said, were expected to be charged last night with possession of marijuana and possession of arms and ammunition. The three will be placed on an ID parade today. Cpl Richard Smith, acting Cpl Sahadeo, Cpl Graham and PC Smith are heading investigations.
