Lucky 13 for Joe Public

JOE PUBLIC captured their 13th triumph in the Sportworld Super League as 17th round action took place yesterday.

The "Eastern Lions" had a comfortable 3-1 win over Stokely Vale at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet, with a hat-trick from Roen Nelson.

The Jamaican forward scored in the seventh, 24th and 61st minutes while Darren Williams pulled one back for the hosts in the 81st.

Dwight Elliott was the hero for Police FC, as he netted in the 90th minute to give his team a 2-2 draw versus Angostura 1976 FC Phoenix at the Larry Gomes Stadium in Arima.

The match started off brightly for the lawmen, with Kerry Joseph getting the opener in the 15th, before the Tobago-based squad surged back with strikes from Dominique Kerr (25th) and Kevin Keith (41st).

WASA Clean & White slipped to fourth place following a goalless draw to PLIPDECO Caroni at Gilbert Park, Couva.

Superstar Rangers remained in fifth position after a hard-fought 1-1 draw against M&M Harvard in the first match of a double-header at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo.

Brito Reyes broke the deadlock for Harvard in the 64th minute before Marlon Bowen equalised for Rangers in the last minute.

In the other fixture at Mucurapo, Maraval Youth Academy overcame the expulsion of goalkeeper Akintunde Felicien, in the 27th minute, and a two-goal deficit to defeat bottom-placed Media 21 FC 3-2.

Kevon Frederick (17th) and Gary Thompson (50th) gave Media 21 a 2-0 cushion before Maraval staged a fantastic comeback, with goals from Clinton Corbin (51st), Joel Felicien (54th) and Kareem De Freitas (86th).

Meanwhile, the encounter between second-placed Crab Connection and Couva Players United was postponed due to an unfit surface at the Mt Hope Junior Secondary School Ground.
