EDDIE KOURY WAS A GREAT FRIEND

The Editor: Comments: Re the death of Eddie Koury: I grew up with Eddie in Arima until I was age 14 (he was then almost 13) and we were neighbourhood buddies. We lived in each other’s house, played games with each other, including siblings.

Our parents knew each other extremely well. I have since lived in the US for the last 25 plus years and had not seen him since. I’ve been back to Trinidad once in that time which was a year after I got married.

A month after I came for the visit, there was a coup attempt. I’ve read the papers online everyday for a few years now and am just amazed that in such a small country which so much natural resources, why it is so difficult for the Government to round up the people committing these type of heinous crimes and create some sort of deterrent in the minds of people wanting to possibly do these types of inhumane crimes.

God willing, I plan to never step foot on soil in Trinidad again unless the Government can get the crime situation under total control and people can live normal lives again.

I have a family just like Eddie... we both went to QRC... both loved sports and all the other things most normal kids enjoy when growing up into adulthood.

He was just an honest businessman taking care of his family while providing a service to Trinidad residents. He should not have had to die this young, leave kids and a wife and other family members behind to mourn.

The residents of Trinidad have to hold their government more accountable for not providing for the safety and security of the country’s residents or the country will disintegrate from within.
