Political interference handicapping police
THE EDITOR: I have no objection to foreign assistance in any sphere of endeavour as we can always learn something, but I am afraid the current impetus will not have the desired impact on the crime situation, what is needed is the political will to tackle the problem. I believe there are many good people in the police service, but their ability to do the necessary job is impeded by political interference and fear of recrimination from the Government. This is a plea to the people charged with the responsibility to do what is best for the country including the protection of its citizenry — give the police your support, allow them to do their job.
