Unfair to erupt on Police Commissioner
THE EDITOR: I would like to comment on the recent contribution in Parliament by Housing Minister, Dr Keith Rowley and his vociferous observation that the Commissioner of Police is never seen on TV. Well, well we are now on Volcano Eruption Watch. As if the CoP is ever cleared to make public statements and pronouncements. It seems to me that the Housing Minister is rabble-rousing to a dangerous degree to want to use that tirade against the Police Commissioner in the Parliament Chambers. MICHAEL CORYAT Cascade
The public is fully aware that the Cabinet members hold their media conferences — their post-Cabinet briefings at which time they strut their stuff. Why doesn’t the immediate line minister responsible for National Security (in this case) invite the Commissioner of anybody else so delegated, to face the media, someone who could provide direct, straight-up answers or responses to queries from members of the media present at those briefings? To harangue and seethe and foam in Parliament about the CoP’s face "never been seen on television" is to perpetuate the blame game. Not one of the others stood up and came to the defence of the gentleman so mentioned. "When yuh bad lucky, wet toilet paper could cut yuh..."
