Bakr’s accuser in court for gun

A MAN who testified against Jamaat al Muslimeen leader Yasin Abu Bakr in the conspiracy to murder trial earlier this year, will appear in court this morning charged with being in possession of a Glock automatic nine millimetre pistol.

A second man, who was one of the 114 members of the Jamaat who took part in the 1990 attempted coup, was also charged with the same offence and will appear in court today.

The two suspects, former members of the Jamaat, will appear before a Tunapuna magistrate to answer the charges. They were held on Friday after officers of the Barataria Police Station, Morvant Police Station and the North-Eastern Division Task Force went to a house at Orange Grove Street, Pasea Road, Tunapuna, where they seized the weapon and arrested the men.

Meanwhile, police are investigating the relationship between the former Jamaat members and two kidnap victims (one found dead) in the Tunapuna area earlier this year.

PC Pinder of the Barataria Police Station laid the charge.
