Foreign affairs Ministry sets record correct

THE EDITOR: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs would like to draw your attention to an article published in the Saturday October 1, 2005 issue of your newspaper which contains an inaccuracy. The article, titled 56-year anniversary of the People’s Republic of China, written by Anne Hilton appeared on page 35, Newsday Section B, Features.

In paragraph two of the article, Ms Hilton states that the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mrs Yvonne Gittens-Joseph "acknowledged the help China has given TT in building primary schools here...". However the statement is erroneous. The exact statement made by Mrs Gittens-Joseph, who was representing Minister Knowlson Gift, is, "A recent example of the co-operation between our countries is the assistance Trinidad and Tobago received for the ongoing computerisation of primary schools."
