Sneakers hanging on electricity line

THE EDITOR: I wish to bring to the attention of the Honourable Minister of Trade, Mr Ken Valley, our representative for the Four Roads, Diego Martin area, Union Road and Fieldscape Drive to be exact.

Please be aware, Mr Minister that the electricity wires on lamp post 55 on Union Road are now decorated with eight pairs of discarded sneakers of varying colours. Some are also on TSTT and Cable TV lines.

It seems that it is becoming a habit by the youths who gather there every evening.

I understand that such acts are in violation of the laws governing public and private property as well as the environment. Regrettably, TTEC was informed by telephone contact about the matter and on-duty crews were also kindly requested to remove them on many occasions.

Unfortunately, two separate crews said it was not their job and they were not there for that concern. I found the refusal did not display any national pride and a 02/02 vision was very obvious.

On this note, Mr Minister, I suggest you provide an area for the youths in the area to spend their spare time playing football there rather than in the roadway near lamp post 55 since the afternoon congregations encourage the unsightly ghetto ambiance.

Secondly, Mr Valley please furnish a streetlight on lamp post 50 on Fieldscape Drive.

The area is very dark and encourages dubious looking characters who use the roadway as a urinal among other things.

Fieldscape Drive is a very residential area, the roadway of which needs much attention with reference to the drains and two leaning posts belonging to either CCTT, TSTT, or both.

Your much regarded influence is expected to address these concerns as soon as possible Mr Valley. Please make a visit between 5 pm and 6 pm any day before the next General Elections.
