St Barb’s man gunned down


A St Barbs, Laventille man is the country’s 305th murder victim. Dead is Kevin Hinkson, 24, alias Ducky.


According to reports, Hinkson, was liming with friends under a tree at the corner of Belmont Circular Road and St Francois Valley Road near CJ Mini Mart, when two men walked up and fired four shots, hitting him in the head and back.


The men then walked to nearby Myler Street and boarded a getaway car, while the injured man was rushed to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital. He was pronounced dead upon arrival. Investigations revealed that Hinkson, who had just received a car from his father to work "PH," had arranged to meet a friend when he was killed.


Hinkson is the son of a warrant officer with the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment.


Residents in St Barb’s, where Hinkson resided, confirmed that he associated with a number of notorious characters and was involved in gang activities, but believed that the killing is related to an altercation he had with men over a woman.


Police sources told Newsday they believe the killing is gang-related.


Belmont police are investigating.
