4 children abandoned in Santa Flora house
FOUR children, between the ages of 18 months and 13 years, were rescued from their home in Santa Flora by police during the early hours of Tuesday morning. Police found the children alone and hungry inside the house at 2 am. Officers at the Santa Flora Police Station were tipped off by an anonymous caller who said the children were alone in the house since Monday morning. Shortly after 2 am on Tuesday, a party of police officers led by Sgt Daniel Jackman, Cpl Denoon and PCs Gosine and Mohammed, went to the house at Dump Road, off an oil field road in Los Bajos. When the police officers entered the house, the children — two boys and two girls — were alone and crying. According to a police report, the children complained to the officers that they were hungry. The report stated that the house was dirty and food inside pots in the kitchen had been contaminated. There was mould on the food, police said. The kitchen cupboards were empty. The children were identified as 13-year-old Kevan Logie, 12-year-old Annalisa, five-year-old Kevon and 18-month-old Angel. The children were taken to the Santa Flora Police Station where police officers gave them something to eat. On Tuesday morning, the four children were taken before Siparia Magistrate Rae Roopchan. Roopchan granted temporary custody of all four children to a relative. A case for the abandonment of the children was postponed to November 7.
