Political parties should hire accounting firms
THE EDITOR: Why don’t political parties hire independent accounting firms to run their internal party elections. This would avoid accusations of "hanky-panky" with the ballots during recounts. I believe that if that had been done by the UNC in the running of their most recently concluded executive elections, all the talk of boycotting meetings and other "executive level" problems over possible tampering of the ballots, could have been prevented, to a large extent. Their internal squabbling as a result of the reversed results for the vice-chairmanship, leaves many wondering if the party is truly ready to win a national election and run the country; especially when it looks like they can’t "run" themselves. Maybe the PM could lead the way of running party elections and have an accounting firm like Ernst and Young or others run their executive elections next time. Fat chance. Remember the recent comment by a certain political leader, "that politics has a morality of its own?" Well, it really does. KELVIN C JAMES SR Port-of-Spain
