Minister: I believe in life

"I believe in life!" — That was the response of Joan Yuille-Williams, Minister of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs, when Sunday Newsday asked her if she would be in the Death March.

However, Junior Culture Minister, Eddie Hart, was more forthcoming with his reply.

He said, "Let me make it abundantly clear. I am one that is appalled about the crime in the country, as everyone else, and I dare say it is not the 36 Members of Parliament that they are touting to make things happen. The responsibility is for everyone in this country."

He added that in the past people were asking why the Government and Opposition couldn’t work together to do something about the situation instead of playing politics with it.

"But all we have been met with is how much crime took place when this or that one was in power.

That is utter nonsense. I will continue to do my part as a representative and try my best to be a good representative, and try to address all the social ills that we are plagued with," stated Hart.
