Koury murder case put off again

Hearing into the murder of businessman Eddie Koury was adjourned again yesterday when the matter was called at the Tunapuna Magistrates’ Court.

All four accused of the September 23 murder appeared before Magistrate Joanne Connor in the Tunapuna First Court. They are Kaleb Neville Donaldson of Rockley Vale, Tobago; Sean James, 21, of Kelly Street, Tunapuna; Jerome Murray, 22, of Mason Hall, Tobago; and Terry Moore, also of Tobago.

When the matter was called yesterday, attorney Pamela Elder SC who is representing Donaldson was notably absent, but attorney Wendy Dougdeen-Bally held for Elder, and apologised for the absence of her senior whom she said was involved in another matter at another court.

Attorney Brent Winter, who appeared for the State, also apologised for the absence of his senior Karl Hudson-Phillips QC, who has been retained to seek the interest of the State. Winter explained that Hudson-Phillips had a previous commitment and was unable to attend yesterday’s proceedings.

The three other accused, Moore, James and Murray, all indicated to Connor that they wished to apply for legal aid since they had no legal representation. Connor took a note of the request and adjourned the matter to November 7.
