Sleeping in Parliament
THE EDITOR: Speaking about transparency, I think the public should see annual health reports of the leaders of our country. The whole world knew about George and Barbara Bush’s (and their dog’s) thyroid problem, caused by lead in the White House plumbing. On an annual basis we heard about Clinton’s slight deafness, his knee problem, his eyesight, weight, etc. Looking at our sleeping members of Parliament, I wonder if they might have diabetes, or is it simply the effect of a large meal with perhaps wine taken in the heat of the day. Wouldn’t it therefore be more sensible to take time off for an official siesta and so avoid making silly decisions? A nurse-friend says Mr Manning could also be on steroids for his heart problem thus causing all that drowsiness. At least we were told about that operation, after it had happened.
